This guide will give you an idea of how much space you need for your pool table to play comfortably. As a rule, a standard pool cue length is 57 inches. If you meet the minimum requirements in this chart you will not hit the walls.

 

 

Room Dimension Guide

  • Most cues are 57” long. You need 60” inches from the edge of the cushion to the wall.  
  • For a 7’ table, the inside dimension is 39” x 78”. So, the width measurement is 60” +39” + 60” for a total of 159” or 13.3 feet. The length is 60” + 78” + 60” for a total of 198” or 16.5 feet.  
  • 7 ft table.   Play surface: 39” x 78”. Room dimension should be:  13’ 3” (W) x 16’ 5 “ (L)
  • 8 ft table.   Play surface: 44” x 88”. Room dimension should be: 13’ 6”  (W) x 17’ 3” (L)  
  • Pro 8 ft table. Play surface: 46” x 92”. Room dimension should be: 13’ 8” (W) x 17’ 6” (L)
  • 9 ft table. Play surface: 50” x 100”. Room dimension should be: 14’ 2”  (W) x 18’ 3” (L)
